Re:Orient Earth

A map that changes what feels central.

An interactive globe, equal-area atlas, and Bearings daily geography game that presents the world at true size with south on top.

Re:Orient Earth showing the globe drawn south-up, Africa and Europe labelled, with the daily game controls beneath it.
On screenScreen capture of the running software. Corey D.M. Johnson. Unmodified beyond resampling: no crop, no colour grade, no compositing.

The question

How much of what feels geographically central comes from the habits of familiar maps rather than the shape and scale of the world itself?

What I made

An interactive globe, an equal-area atlas, and Bearings — a daily geography game — all sharing a deliberate south-up orientation.

Where it is now

Live on the web, combining the globe, atlas, and daily game in one place.
