Sonaurelis

Shape the sound. Leave the life in it.

A family of display-first studio processors for space, time, dynamics, tone, colour, resonance, and signal health.

Starveil Reverb, full plugin window — decay field display on the left, expert control drawer open on the right.
On screenScreen capture of the running software. Corey D.M. Johnson. Unmodified beyond resampling: no crop, no colour grade, no compositing.

The question

Audio software often asks you to choose between laboratory equipment and a mood board. I wanted tools that could be exact without becoming cold — and expressive without becoming vague.

Suite principles

Every moving pixel is real: motion describes the signal, the control, or the consequence, rather than reassuring you the interface is alive. A useful result comes first, so the main surface is deliberately bounded and deeper controls live in a drawer. Labels follow how you listen — technical units where they help, musical language where it communicates the decision better. And there’s no account between you and your sound; this is local, focused, and uninterested in becoming a cloud relationship.

A few details worth noticing

The primary surface isn’t a “simple mode” — it’s the instrument as a playable object. Displays are evidence: if the processor didn’t do it, the interface doesn’t draw it. Starveil, Timewake, and Luster share a dark obsidian foundation while their colour, display behaviour, and control priorities belong to their specific jobs.

The seven instruments

  • Starveil Reverb

Give the sound somewhere to live.

Smooth, deep true-stereo space with a fast performance surface.

    Shown on this page

  • Timewake Delay

Move the moment without losing the words.

Scale, rhythm, motion, width, looping, and the occasional beautiful wrong turn.

    Shown on this page

  • Gravitywell Compressor

Give the performance weight, not a flat tire.

Wideband character compression with bounded creative extremes.

  • Luster

Finish the tone without sanding off the fingerprints.

Broad harmonic EQ, colour, density, and honest level comparison.

    Shown on this page

  • Emberlight Saturation

    Make drive playable.

Harmonic colour with distinct character families and a display that shows where clean begins to glow.

  • Toneveil

Quiet the part that won’t stop shouting.

Resonance control that reduces spectral excess without flattening everything around it.

  • Beacon Signal Monitor

    Know what changed.

Free. A transparent signal-health monitor that shows what happened, when, and whether it recovered.

3 of 7 are shown on this page. The rest are real and simply not captured here yet.

Where it is now

One coherent suite; seven separate engineering stories; several thousand tiny decisions.

Seven documented products at different stages. Starveil, Timewake, and Gravitywell are the strongest private-test candidates; Luster is locally verified with human gates remaining; Emberlight and Toneveil are active engineering work; Beacon is the free entry product, in development.
